The US Customs has introduced a proposal to revoke the long-standing ruling that allows assited opening knives to be imported. Customs now proposes these assisted opening knives be re-defined as illegal “switchblades”. Under the Switchblade Knife Act, it would then be illegal for you to posses any easy open knife.
This is not someone else’s problem. This is huge. U.S. Customs is serious. Go to www.akti.org now and get more information. They have created model letters, Knife User Data sheets, and AKTI Talking Points so you can write a clear, rational letter that reflects your concerns as either an individual or business owner.

There’s not much time. I just fired off letters to my Senators, US Rep, and the comment address for US Customs. Due to the short remaining time (the comments are due June 21, a Sunday) I’ve sent them out Expre$$ Mail.
