Behind the Scenes at Valor

It’s been a while since we have sent out a mailing list, but we are finally back in the swing of things and have a new mailing list to go along with our new site.  You can make sure you are getting the latest info and specials from us by going to your account and updating your mailing preferences.

We will occasionally send out specials, new items and special announcements.  Not too overwelming, but enough to keep you up-to-date.  You can get most of the same info by subscribing to this blog and by using the RSS reader to follow all of our specials and new items as I explained in this post, but the mailings put everything in one place where you can catch anything  you may have missed.

One thing that has always been missing from our website is a good way to see what is getting refulfilled in our inventory.  Sure you can sign up to be emailed when an item becomes available, but let’s face it, you’re never going to get to every item and do that.

Starting today, you can now view the ‘Recently Received’ items for every category.  Now you will not miss the second and third shipments of hard to get items because they are no longer on the front page.  This will bring a larger amount of product s to the front pages of the categories and make it easier to see what is available with a quick look.

This morning a crew from some cable company across the street was installing new cable and inadvertantly cut the fiber optics for our street. This has knocked out our phones and Internet service. Thankfully the good folks at AT&T have fixed our phones. Our website is still.down. Hopefully our seevice will be restored soon.

A much needed change is finally complete.  I am happy to say the new site is off to a great start.  We have had few glitches and it seems to be making life easier for users already.

There are some substantial changes that you need to know about.

New Categories

Valor’s focus has turned towards the gun and accessory business over the last year or so.  This has caused the category of firearms and accessories grow tremendously.  I have now separated the category into four separate categories:

Firearms
Amunition
Shooting Accessoies
Air Guns

This has already made some users very happy from what I understand.  We use the categories internally and I know it has helped us.

New Area for downloads

So far, it appears everyone has found this, but just in case you haven’t, read this.  The link to the download page is now on the front page after you log in.  You can edit your account from here too.

There will be additions added regularly now.  The first thing you will see is a new firearms search followed by a ammo search.  Keep an eye ou for this.  It wlll be quite easy to narow down your search for both quite easily.

As some of you may know, I write the website myself.  Unfortunately, with all the change that has gone on around here in the last year, my time for writing the website has been limited at best. But I have still managed to sneak in some time to do a long overdue rewrite of the website, probably my last.  I just need to tie up some loose ends and I will have it up and running by mid-May.

But right now, I want your input.  What would you like to see?  What stinks now?  What would be the first thing you change?

So give me your comments below and I will see what I can add in the new reincarnation.  I can’t promise anything, but I will do what I can.
